Everyone talks about the importance of video content when it comes to marketing strategy. Social media is a perfect place to integrate video, without having to spend hours and hours filming and editing. Here are some tips on integrating video into your social strategy, based on which platform you’re using.

If you’re on Instagram, you have a few options to play in the video sandbox:

  1. Reels: Reels are 60 seconds or less & have their own location on your Instagram profile. You can also cross-post them to your grid. You can dabble in reels by creating them yourself and repost reels from others. Check out the Ultimate Guide to Instagram Reels from Later, for more info.

  2. Stories: Stories are an easy way to add videos to your regular Instagram presence. Stories are a great place to share less curated, unedited content in real-time- think behind the scenes, a day in the life, your commentary on any topic related to your business, and more. You can also use Stories to share your own grid posts, along with content from other profiles you love.

If you’re on Facebook, you have a few options when it comes to video content:

  1. Facebook stories: Facebook stories are similar to Instagram stories, they are best used for real-time updates, in-the-moment thoughts, and to have a consistent daily presence with your audience. Great news, you don’t have to do both! You can sync up Instagram and Facebook, so if you create an Instagram story it automatically posts to Facebook. Here’s how!

  2. Facebook Live: Facebook Live is a great place to connect with your community in a forum-like manner. It allows you to show up, “face to face” with your audience and allows them to engage and ask questions. This is a great way to introduce your business, answer frequently asked questions, share new products and more!

  3. Facebook feed videos: Video performs better than image or text posts on Facebook. So, if you’re considering snapping a quick photo to post on Facebook, ask yourself “Could this be a short video?”. Instead of a snapshot of the gorgeous produce at the local Farmer’s Market, maybe do a video scanning the whole selection, and BAM! you’ve got yourself a more engaging post.

Maybe X makes the most sense for your business. If you’re a thought leader in your community or industry, Twitter is a great place to share content and be a part of the conversation. Video is a great way to represent your business on Twitter. Here are some tips on videos that help your business stand out!

When it comes to TikTok, it’s all video all the time. So, if you’re interested in getting started on TikTok, check out this step-by-step guide by Hootsuite.
